About Me

Hi there!! My name is Sarah and welcome to my blog! I am a recent engineering grad who is still trying to find her way in life. I try to post as often as I can and it is usually related to fashion, music, healthy living, travel, or family.

From the moment I could walk I was putting on fashion shows for my family. A slight control freak even at my young age, but I had a vision and I was not going to stop until I saw it through. To this day, I still retain that creative drive and passion for fashion. When I was in high school, I would rush home every day so I could catch the afternoon episode of Fashion Television. I have watched the seasons of America's Next Top Model countless times (and yes the brief series Canada's Next Top Model) and was a huge fan of Fashion Star and Project Runway. I think fashion is about embracing who you are and not being afraid to take risks. I thoroughly enjoy trying new things and that does not exclude my wardrobe. I'm not sure if I have a "signature style", but my outfits definitely reflect my mood, which just so happens to be similar to that of a roller coaster i.e. ever-changing and sometimes unexpected. It's not just about the clothes you wear, its much more than that. Fashion is a form of expressing yourself and portraying yourself to the world.

Music- another form of expression. I have been involved with music my whole life. Both sides of my family are very musically talented. Most of my mother's family (except her of course) sing or play some sort of instrument. My great uncle is known as "Johnny No Cash" back in Scotland, and every time we visited there, my nana and her many siblings (12 to be exact) would sing out a tune. Growing up all I ever heard was "Country Road" and "My Old Kentucky Home" being sung over and over by my nana. And it was she, my nana, who signed me up for piano lessons when I was young and bought me my first keyboard. Can you guess what song she made me learn first?? haha. My dad's side of the family is equally as interested in music and as talented. My one uncle has been travelling around performing as Elvis for the past few years and has an incredible voice. My other uncle has his own band and has been pursuing music as a career for the last couple years. My dad, not so skilled vocally, has always had an interest in music and has always wanted to learn the piano (we recently just bought our first digital piano and it rocks). When I was 13 I received my first acoustic guitar for Christmas and was the happiest girl on the planet. I soon after bought myself an electric guitar, and in my spare time I pretend to be a rock star. Since then I have been singing, writing, and playing songs, and I do not ever plan on stopping!

I have been active my whole life, but I've found that as I get older I have had to make more of an effort to exercise and eat healthy. I have been a vegetarian for about 8 years now, and can't imagine ever going back to eating meat. Being vegetarian has so many benefits, but it can also be disastrous if not done correctly. For a while I was not providing my body with enough nutrients and vitamins, and this had an effect both physically and mentally. I am a huge advocate for mental health, as I feel it is so often treated as a taboo subject and is highly avoided. Mental illnesses affect so many people, and if people would acknowledge that these exist and actively work to reduce the stigma regarding them and find a solution, it could help so many incredible lives. This is why I think it is so important to eat properly and exercise regularly. I recently have started doing yoga, and I have also began to do CrossFit. Keeping yourself involved in physical activity, and making healthier diet choices can have a huge impact on your life.

Ever since I was young I have always been a travel bug. My mom is a flight attendant, and her job always seemed to be coolest ever- and it still does. I have travelled to Paris, Munich, Madrid, Malaga, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Orlando, Cancun, and Holguin, to name a few. I have also taken numerous trips to London, Glasgow, and Hamilton (Scotland), and have made brief appearances in Halifax, Philadelphia, Jacksonville, and Hollywood. I don't want the list to end...ever. I love exploring new places and learning about their culture and ways of life. Most of my trips have not been fine dining experiences, but I prefer it that way. I typically try local foods from the supermarket and make my own meals. I walk everywhere and use a map (no not on my phone) to navigate around the city...

.. To be continued.
